Casela History & Activities

Born in the 1970s as a modest bird sanctuary, Casela Nature Park was originally home to a collection of rare and exotic tropical birds. Located on former farmland, the site gradually evolved, opening up to African wildlife and adventure activities, while remaining true to its mission of preserving biodiversity. Today, it has become one of the most renowned nature and wildlife parks in the Indian Ocean, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors each year who come to discover a clever blend of nature, adrenaline, and wonder.

Casela Nature Park is one of the jewels of western Mauritius, nestled at the foot of the mountains and surrounded by lush vegetation. A true paradise for nature and adventure lovers, this iconic park stretches over more than 350 hectares and wonderfully combines wildlife, magnificent panoramas and thrilling activities.

Here, lions, zebras, giraffes, rhinos, and ostriches roam in vast spaces inspired by their natural habitat. Visitors can observe them during 4x4 safaris, on foot, or even on quad bikes, for a total immersion in the heart of Mauritian wildlife.

But Casela is not limited to animals: dizzying zip lines soaring over the canopy, suspension bridges, canyoning, horseback riding, and rail-based luge descents spice up the experience. Younger children can enjoy play areas, mini-farms and fun activities with animals.

The history of the park is closely linked to the preservation of local biodiversity. Initially established as a sanctuary for exotic birds, Casela is today a committed player in species conservation and public awareness of environmental protection.

Each visit is an immersion in a universe where you move in a few minutes from an African savannah landscape to a tropical panorama with breathtaking views of the west coast and the Indian Ocean.

Here, you can take the time to enjoy a Creole meal on the terrace, lulled by the sounds of nature, or admire a blazing sunset over the surrounding hills. Between thrills, animal discoveries, and moments of relaxation, Casela Nature Park promises unforgettable memories.
