North Island Excursion: Your itinerary in detail

Your adventure begins from Grand Bay, the ideal starting point for exploring the marine gems of northern Mauritius. Aboard a catamaran or speedboat, you leave the shore and head towards a lagoon with a thousand blue reflections.

After a short sail, head for the Gunner's Quoin, an impressive basalt cliff rising from the ocean. This is an opportunity to admire the seabirds nesting on its walls and to enjoy a first snorkeling stop to discover the seabed.

Then you will continue towards Flat Island, the largest of the northern islands. Its historic lighthouse and quarantine ruins bear witness to a rich past, while its pristine beaches invite you to relax and swim in crystal-clear waters.

Right next door is Gabriel Islet, a small wild paradise with fine sand and unspoiled vegetation. Here, you will enjoy a barbecue lunch served by the beach, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, typically Mauritian.

Depending on the itinerary, a stop may also be planned near the coral reefs for a new snorkeling session, to meet the multicolored tropical fish.

At the end of the day, the boat gently sets off back towards Grand Baie. On deck, the gaze is lost between the infinite horizon and the silhouettes of the northern islands which recede, giving way to a unforgettable memory of escape and discovery.

Snorkeling at Gabriel Island: an immersion in the heart of marine life

Leave from Grand Bay or Cap Malheureux For an unforgettable day in the crystal-clear waters of northern Mauritius. Aboard a comfortable boat, head to Flat Island, a true marine sanctuary. There, your local guide will take you to the best snorkeling spots, renowned for their rich underwater flora and fauna.

Equip yourself with a mask and snorkel, and dive into a fascinating universe: coral reefs, brain corals, colorful gorgonians, parrotfish, butterfly fish, blue surgeons, but also benches of silver trevally and twirling young ladies. With a little luck, you will come across a hawksbill turtle or a stingray gliding gracefully across the sand.

Beyond the beauty of the corals, Flat Island is also a refuge for many seabirds that you can observe from the beach, adding a natural dimension to your excursion.
